Çukurova Sanat Atölyesi Sinema Grubu uzun metraj film çekimi için hazırlıklara başladı. Senaryosunu Hakan Tabakan'ın yazdığı Dünyanın Ucundaki Ev, yönetmen Zafer Özgentürk tarafından beyaz perdeye aktarılacak. Film çekimi Antakya'da bir balıkçı kasabasında gerçekleşecek. Bir deniz hikayesi olan Dünyanın Ucundaki Ev 2012'de seyirciyle buluşacak.

THE KITE RUNNER

“The Kite Runner”, tells us the tale of a little boy called Amir, a Pashto from the region of Wazir Akbar Khan. Amir couldn’t leave his betrayal behind towards Hassan, his buddy . The story has been developed in such a tumultuous atmosphere that we could see the kingdom fall in Afghanistan, the Russian invasion, the holo migration from Afghanistan to Pakistan, USA and the governance of Taliban. In the film,“The Kite Runner”, which is adapted from the novel by the Afghan author Khaled Hosseini, the highlighted point is the tale of an Afghan migrant living in California for years, named Amir who returns to his native land governed by Taliban after learning that the son of his childhood buddy has hard times. Amir living in California is a son of a wealthy merchant family from Kabul having migrated to USA upon the dominance by Taliban regime on Afghanistan. Through the childhood years in Kabul, Amir develops a real friendship with Hassan, the son of the house servant. Nevertheless, he grows to be unfaithful to his best friend in an event that he could help Hassan but he did not. Amir ignores the disgusting incident that Hassan has to face and he cuts the painter. However, to confront with the past is so close as a voice from a telephone(!) Indeed, Amir hasn’t considered Hassan as a fellow; nor Amir’s father has , for Ali, the father of Hassan…

As a possible conclusion of a book adaption, we witness the change of the characters’ states in different periods and the change of their insides and their outdoor conditions. Amir has to migrate to USA with his father due to the Russian invasion. After years, he hits his target to be a famous author. However, a call from a former family friend, takes him to the bygones days that he could not even get rid of. Chains of events go on with this travel of Amir’s who gets already stucked between the past and future. He has already been disturbed his ungrateful behavior and the feeling of guiltiness. After some more years, he comes to know that Hassan and his wife have been killed by Taliban. In this sense, he returns to Afghanistan ruled by Taliban to find Hassan’s son who is in trouble.

Which idea does the film stand by?

“Exist thousand times with your beauties, happiness and health”

This sentence can be heard through the film from Hassan to Amir, and sometimes from Amir returning back due to his feeling of guiltiness. It’s a sincere sentence we all long for!

Actually, the film attracts the attention on account of its literal side. Moreover, it explains some important personal morals as friendship, faithfulness, devotion, loyalty. We feel these through the scenes. And we may confront with lots of topics as; child, Taliban, unpaid affection, lies, truths… The presentation of the story is in an actual sincerity and this is integrated with visual objects. The perfection in dialogues proves that the film is an adaption of a novel. Possibly, the best thing for Afghan children is the kite competitions. (In this part of the film, we correlate with our own childhood. ) I have asserted at the beginning that the film is indeed successful considering the editing, music, framing, light or technical details or the flow of the film through the scenes. All is integrated with the geographic features artfully. ..( In final, if there were pain, we all might have fallen into pieces. But, that’s impossible, you know, positive attitude console the people. Well, if it’s an American film, when USA appears behind the masks, in the final of the film it’s impossible to sorrow. Every time, goodness wins, well then!!!

This film, “The Kite Runner” raises points of view to some important topics as an-after-imperialism, neo-colonialism period consisting of globalization, intercultural conflict, civil war and migration. It also considers memories, mode, sexual interrelations or gender roles.

There’s a strong point that this film is also an American propaganda. To illustrate, father of the hero says in the novel that “ There are three real people in the world: America(swift rescuer), England and Israel. I actually haven’t make sense of that sympathy!!! Indeed, it’s so easy to make sense; a man adoring Mustang autos and having desires to imitate USA style, living in the best house in Kabul… It must not be so difficult to understand that this man is a merchant who is a domestic collaborator working with imperialists . For that reason, USA, Israel and England are declared as rescuers.

Another striking point is that: The father tells to his son “The worst guilt is to steal something belonging to other! That is to say, the importance of “Private Property” has been focused for the hero, Amir, who has watched the rape to Hassan, his fellow and done nothing about that. The author and the director tell every curse things to Russians but not to America anymore!

For the curious; from history…

The Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, has been converted to a campaign to blemish Socialism. When Khaled Hosseini propagandize this in his novel, we see that he has ignored the historical truth. Ignorance of the real history means distorting the history. Marc Forster has known his way of directing to develop and universalize his country’s ideology and benefits.

Along with the death of Stalin, the revisionists who’s got hold of the power, has made the Soviets go back and change. As a result, in 1960s the Soviets has already turned to be a “ Social-Imperialist” country. The invasion of Afghanistan has been realized and handled the agenda by “Social-Imperialist Soviets” The Revisionists tried to impose this invasion as ‘revolution export’.

In the film, Marc Forster means in a sense as ‘we went into Afghanistan for those reasons’. He realizes that using the geographical and public values.

Who did feed the Taliban reaction against the Soviets? Khaled Hosseini and Marc Forster speak a common language and hiding that truth they distort the history through the book or the film. No doubt, they do that for the sake of USA the main volunteer for world peace and it’s ideology.

Besides, we face with the propaganda of USA is a country where the human being lives peacefully. A careful audience can see the truth reading between the lines. You can see the real face of religion, class difference and the exclusion of smashed people.

The Hazara are here second ranked people excluded, and at most, they are used as labor force. In these days, in Afghanistan 2.8 millions, in Pakistan 600.000 and in Iran 300.000 Hazara have been living and in their countries they face the problem of political exclusion. The Hazara are predominantly Shia and they’re under the pressure of Sunni domination.

The ones raping Hassan, just before the rape, insult Hassan as calling him “Damn Hazara!”. Here we may see the ethnic pressure on children worlds.

As a conclusion;

The Afghanistan mountains, streets and residences in snow… Colorful kites all over the blue sky…. Cinematographic streets, visual abundance, the houses, portraits and so on… Everything, setting is wonderful.

To select a different theme and setting, actually different from usual, American Cinema is supposed to become new; unfortunately that’s not the truth, the content is ever and never changing, it serves on a single ideology, always the same. Beside the good critics, film deserves bad critics too. Because, we see being an American Sympathizer, the idea America is the sole country , are focused so much. American Cinema Industry has already found to market Hollywood nonsense difficult and so, it realizes that using other countries’ culture and stories. But I think we have not to be used to this, but only considering as usual.
